Fostering FAQ

What do you provide?

We will provide you with everything you need including food, beds, bowls, litter trays, litter, toys, a cat carrier.

What if I need advice?

We are here for you! We also have a lovely, supportive Cat-CHING WhatsApp Group full of experienced fosterer carers.

How long will the cat be with me?

It varies from cat to cat, but all our cats receive full medical treatment prior to adoption so will be a minimum of 4 weeks.

Do I need to drive?

You need to either drive and have access to a vehicle, or have access to a driver with a vehicle.

What happens if the cat gets ill?

We will cover the cost of any vet treatment they may need.

Do I need a spare room?

Not necessarily – we do have some foster families who don’t have a spare room, but they foster in a pet-free household.

Can my foster cat meet pets?

No, this is for their health, safety and wellbeing.

How many cats can I have at once?

For their safety, multi-cat fostering only happens if they are from the same place.

What if my friend/family want to adopt my foster cat?

We manage the rehoming of the cats in care. If your friends or family members express an interest in adopting one of the cats you are fostering, then please direct them to us.

Can I adopt my foster cat?

The aim of fostering is to keep on fostering; learning to let the cats go (and be rehomed) is an important aspect of the role.

The role of a foster carer is SO important and your aim is to be the stepping stone where the cat can recover and prepare for the rest of their lives.

If you are looking for a permanent cat, please enquire about adoption rather than fostering.

Can I foster kittens or mum cats with kittens?

This depends on your experience – generally, unless someone has vast experience (e.g. from fostering with another rescue), we will begin their foster journey with an adult cat.
